200 Hr YOGA TEACHER TRAINING

What Makes Triyambakam’s YTT So Special?

Our 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training program offers a truly unique exploration of traditional yoga, viewed through the prism of Kashmir Shaivism, with a contemporary perspective in mind.

This training provides a solid foundation to enrich your personal yoga practice and to instruct a distinctive and transformative style of yoga that harmoniously fuses ancient wisdom with the demands of modern life – a practice we fondly refer to as Triyambakam Yoga.

At the heart of this approach lies the recognition of the inherent divinity and interconnectedness of all beings. By nurturing a mindful connection to the present moment, participants gain profound insights into the genuine essence of existence, achieving equilibrium through the three pillars of study (adhyayana), practice (sādhanā), and community (kula).

What you will learn

  • 1. Philosophy of Yoga

In this foundational module, we embark on a journey through the historical origins of yoga philosophy in ancient India, tracing its roots to the Vedas, Upanishads, and the Bhagavad Gita, which served as the cornerstone for the development of yogic wisdom. We also delve into the diverse paths of yoga, including Jnana Yoga (the path of knowledge), Bhakti Yoga (the path of devotion), Karma Yoga (the path of action), and Raja Yoga (the path of meditation), offering a comprehensive understanding of the multifaceted nature of this profound philosophical tradition.

  • 2. Anatomy and Biomechanics

With a profound focus on physical anatomy and biomechanics, this unique training program will provide you with a deep appreciation for the human body, its intricate workings, and the means to achieve optimal health while prioritizing safety in your yoga practice. We harness contemporary, evidence-based research to enhance our comprehension of the human body, allowing us to draw comparisons with the ancient wisdom concerning bodily functioning.

  • 3. Subtle body system and Chakra

In addition to the physical body, we will explore the realms of the subtle body, and the various inner maps utilized by the Tantric traditions. We will learn about prana (subtle life force energy), the nadis (energetic pathways), chakras (energy centers), and kundalini (the strong energetic creative life force within us). Learn how the Maha Bhutas (five “great elements”) impact the subtle body system and provide roadmaps to one’s practice.

  • 4. Tools for body Alignment

Encompassing an extensive array of practices, including mudra (hand gestures), kriya (actions), bandha (locks), pranayama (breath techniques), and more, our program will empower you with not only potent tools for personal transformation, often overlooked in contemporary yoga teachings, but also the expertise to impart these transformative techniques to others.

  • 5. Asana Lab

As our understanding of the human body deepens, we will systematically deconstruct numerous yoga poses, starting from the very foundations, in order to grasp their fundamental purpose, structure, and appearance. Through this process, you will acquire the knowledge to make adjustments that ensure the safety and support of your students, all the while encouraging them to venture into various postures within a controlled range of movement.

  • 6. Intelligent Sequencing

By comprehending both the physical and subtle aspects of the human body, you will gain the skills needed to create well-structured yoga practices centered around asanas. These practices will not only motivate and empower contemporary yoga practitioners but also ensure their safety as they engage in a diverse range of exercises. You will acquire the ability to teach these practices through our Elemental approach.

  • 7. Teaching Methodology

Acquire the fundamental principles of a teaching approach that promotes a life-enhancing yoga practice, empowering students not just during their practice but also in their daily lives. Our curriculum includes important topics like BABL (Breath, Action, Body part, Location), the influence of language on guiding and engaging students in a class, the art of constructing a pose through clear communication, establishing the framework of a yoga session, and a variety of other valuable concepts.

  • 8. Practice Teaching

Teaching is a distinct art form. Once we've laid the foundation of a fundamental teaching methodology and approach, students will gain extensive experience in real teaching situations. Through daily practice sessions and comprehensive practicums, students will develop the confidence and essential skills required to proficiently instruct others in this practice.

  • 9. Mantra Science

Discover the profound impact of mantras, which serve as a means of awakening and empowerment in our everyday existence. We will delve into this age-old discipline by exploring Bija (seed) sounds, japa (repetition), vocalization (utterance) exercises, kirtan (devotional) chanting, and various other practices.

  • 10. Meditation

Meditation is an essential element of every yoga practice and holds a central position in Non-dual Shaiva Tantra (NST) traditions. These meditation techniques encompass not only closed-eye meditations but also a wide range of sensory-based practices. These distinctive and potent methods are exclusive to NST, forming a vital component of an embodied spiritual practice that embraces the everyday aspects of life.

  • 11. Puja (Ritual)

Students will come to understand the meaning of ritual within the yoga traditions, experiencing and learning both powerful inner and outer rituals. Blessed to be able to share this training at the ashram beside the Ganga in Rishikesh, students get a taste of yogi culture as they participate in powerful purification rituals led by local yogis. Additionally, they can explore Ayurveda diagnosis in this serene and spiritually rich environment.

  • 12. Myths and Stories of Yoga

Recognizing that not everyone aspires to be a philosopher, we need to find ways to convey the profound concepts embedded in these traditions in a more approachable manner. In this training, we will delve into a diverse range of myths and stories drawn from the abundant tapestry of Indian culture, specifically chosen for their ability to accomplish this. These narratives will not only enhance your comprehension of essential insights from the tradition but will also equip you with the tools to convey these insights in a memorable and easily understandable fashion.

  • 13. Internship for a week

Navigating the modern yoga landscape can be challenging. During this week-long internship, we will provide you with all the essential tools and certification required to venture into the contemporary world and teach life-affirming yoga practices in both group and private settings. You'll gain expertise in building a supportive community around your classes and teachings, as well as discovering the most effective ways to offer your authentic self in service to others.
